General Procedures for Operating Media Equipment in Beatty 426

Below are the basic operating procedures for the Beatty 426 mediated classroom.  By following these procedures below, you should be able to use all the devices available in this room.  If you are experiencing problems with any of this equipment, please contact the OIT helpdesk at extension 4500.

Accessing the Room

All faculty who are teaching in the mediated classrooms should have been issued a key to access these facilities from their department chair.

Accessing the Equipment Cabinet

Faculty who are using the mediated classroom will be issued a key to the equipment cabinet (see figure 1) after a brief 30 to 45 minute orientation to the mediated classrooms.  This key will open and close any of the new equipment cabinets located in these classrooms.

To turn off the projector, simply press and hold the top left button for about 2 seconds.  This will cause the solid green light to blink.  After the green light stops blinking this indicates that the projector was successfully shut down.

Powering On and Shutting Down the Instructor’s Computer

The Instructor’s computer should normally be left on.  In situations when the computer has been shut down, press the “On” button on the CPU (see Figures 5a and 5b) and press the “On” button on the Monitor (see Figure 6).
