What if it happens to me?

·     Get to a safe place immediately.

·     There are many options for help and information:

·     During business hours, you can contact the Wentworth Health Center, the Counseling Center, Public Safety, or Housing and Residence Life.

·     After business hours, or over the weekend, you can contact Public Safety at 617-989-4444.  They will walk you through your options, which may include calling a staff member to assist you and mobilizing appropriate college resources.  You can also contact your RD during this time for additional assistance.

·     If possible, do not bathe, shower, brush your teeth, or go to the bathroom.  Do not change your clothes.  If you already have, do not wash them.  Put them in a clean paper bag and bring them with you to the hospital, if you choose to go.

·     Get medical attention as soon as possible.  You can do this by visiting the Health Center, or going to a local emergency room, such as Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Seek counseling and other sources of support.  There are many options for support after an assault.  Talking with a trained counselor can help you with coping skills and information.  Family and friends can be a source of comfort and safety.  It is important that you trust and feel safe with whomever you choose to confide in.  There are also a number of resources in the greater Boston area.
